Foreign Legion has helped put Luke McJannet on the Newmarket training map this winter and himself in line for top all-weather horse of the season when landing the feature on the replacement card.

The strapping chestnut gelding was completing a four-timer in smooth fashion under regular partner Nicky Mackay only days after being a key non-runner at the Tattersalls February Sales.

Owner Ivor Collier said: "They put him in as the last lot in the catalogue, so we decided to withdraw him and come here instead – and he's done us proud. He could well be the all-weather horse of the year, but we''ll give him a break after that."
