Folkestone racecourse may be gone but its influence was profound on one young jockey, whose fourth win in a dozen rides was as stylish as it was strong.

“I grew up near Folkestone and when I was a kid I used to sit outside the weighing room looking at the jockeys going in," said Rex Dingle. "I then had a little pony and it went from there.”

Dingle, 20, is keen to keep learning and cites Noel Fehily and Richard Johnson as inspiration. Elements of both were evident as he secured victory on the Jeremy Scott-trained Bonza Girl in the 2m3f handicap hurdle.
