First Sitting gorges on prize again as Goodwood serves up food, glorious food

On an afternoon when Goodwood staged the third and final afternoon of its Festival of Food and Racing with Michelin-starred chefs in attendance, it was entirely appropriate the card's star performance came from a horse called First Sitting.

For the second year running Goodwood has staged a foodies' feast over its three-day May meeting. Cookery demonstrations and a fantastic farmers' market have provided a super side attraction to the racing, which this time began with First Sitting and Gerald Mosse following up their 16-1 success from 12 months ago in the Netbet Festival Stakes.

Back then the winning margin was just a nose but on this occasion the Chris Wall-trained 6-1 shot had half a length to spare over Autocratic.
