First for owners Phil and Julie Martin as Pearl Of Qatar strikes

By now we are well used to seeing the black and pink colours of Phil and Julie Martin carried to success on British racecourses, Flat and jumps (they also had a winner at Sedgefield), but there was still an added significance about Pearl Of Qatar's win in division two of the opening 5f novice at odds of 25-1.

After receiving the prize, Phil Martin said: "She's the first winner that we've bred and we've still got the mare."

That mare is Musical Molly, who like Pearl Of Qatar was trained by Brian Ellison and gained the first of her two wins over course and distance in June 2013. She was running in the Martins' colours by the time she won at Southwell a year later.
