Fast ground prevailed at the Somerset course but Scott on a high after Demon win

Despite belatedly managing to stage their first meeting of the season the prevailing fast ground at Taunton is causing a number of headaches for the course's managing director Bob Young.

The Somerset circuit was forced to pull the plug on their scheduled first meeting of the autumn last month and Young said: “It’s been trying times all round as the long hot summer has left its mark as far as the racing surface is concerned.

“It’s not as bad as it was back in 2003 when we did not race until mid-December due to the hard ground. However, looking ahead there is no real rain the forecast for the next week to ten days and we are due to race again in a couple of weeks on November 29th.”
