Family affair as Litterale Ci strikes for Fry and sister-in-law O'Connor
Litterale Ci’s victory in the 2m½f handicap hurdle had a family feel about it with winning trainer Harry Fry entrusting sister-in-law Aine O’Connor with the ride on the JP McManus-owned five-year-old and the 7lb conditional delivered with poise.
On just her second ride at Stratford, O’Connor, sister of Fry’s wife Ciara and the partner of fellow rider Niall Madden, hugged the rail on Litterale Ci before sneaking up the inside of leader Lucca Lady after the last to seal a fourth win in Britain and 16th overall for the rider.
“She loved the better ground and jumped really well,” said the 26-year-old. “You have to ride her with a lot of confidence and be patient, but she did it well.”
