Lee rewarded for long drive with double on the day

Clifford Lee rode out two lots on a bitterly cold morning at Middleham in North Yorkshire before making the 272-mile journey south, so his win on Made Of Honour in the feature fillies' handicap was just reward for his effort.

It was a first all-weather win at Lingfield for Lee, who later picked up a spare to make his trip even more worthwhile, and it was not such a heart stopper as when he won on the filly at Newcastle earlier in the month.

He said: "I wanted to sit second and everything panned out well. When she won at Newcastle I held on to her too long and she only won by a short head."
