Billed as the Irish banker of the Cheltenham Festival for many, Envoi Allen delivered on the heavy expectations when an impressive four-and-a-quarter-length winner of the Ballymore Novices' Hurdle.

The question now is where next for Cheveley Park's unbeaten superstar?

'If I were Gordon Elliott I'd be making plans for the RSA Chase'

There is no question Envoi Allen is very special given the way he went past The Big Getaway and Easywork like they were handicappers, and he should improve even more over fences.

The way he finished the Ballymore shows he'll have no trouble getting further next season, and if I were Gordon Elliott I'd begin making plans for the RSA Chase.

Elliott kept Samcro over hurdles after his Ballymore win and somewhat paid the price, and I don't think he'll make the same mistake this time. Envoi Allen will relish the step up to three miles, and has all the makings of a future Gold Cup winner.

'Why not aim for the stars and target the Champion Chase?'

This is a monster.

The Big Getaway and Easywork looked to have stolen a march on Envoi Allen but the pace he showed to cruise past the front two was quite devastating. Two miles is clearly no issue and he looks destined for a novice chase campaign next season.

Providing he takes to fences and builds on the brilliance he has shown over hurdles, I would be inclined to test his mettle out of novice company at some point.

While it is clearly a long way away, why not aim for the stars and target the Champion Chase? He is special and special novices deserve the chance to mix it in open company.
