Flat racing is not quite so obsessed with festival meetings as the jumps, but with the turf season just around the corner Derby talks was suddenly the hot topic.

It came not following one of the three-year-old maidens but after Moayadd completed his hat-trick in a division of the Class 6 handicap over 1m3f for trainer Neil Mulholland and apprentice Hollie Doyle.

It was the five-year-old's owner Philip Malcolm who started the Derby talk about his first horse, bought out of the John Ferguson dispersal sale.
