Dylan Robinson went from villain to hero in the eyes of Henry de Bromhead in the space of just a few minutes as the rider ignored all instructions from the trainer when electing to sit off the pace, rather than making the running, in the €40,000 2m Grade 3 novice chase.

Ornua usually blazes a trail in front but the decision to sit off the strong early pace paid dividends as the improving chaser won the feature by just under four lengths, with the stable’s Classic Theatre getting valuable black type in third.

De Bromhead said: “I was surprised by the change of tactics but fair play to Dylan; the plans changed and he gave him a brilliant ride. He took it up at the right time and was good in the end.
