Pimm's and ice cream were the order of the day on a scorching afternoon in Surrey and Northdown gave Kevin Scott the perfect excuse to raise a glass when becoming the owner’s first ever winner in division one of the 7f maiden.

Despite an inconspicuous start at Ascot on debut, trainer David Lanigan had reassured Northdown's rookie owner the best was yet to come and the son of Paco Boy did not disappoint when flashing down the outside to win.
