Dream result: Le Reve rewards faith in overcoming a broken neck!

Those who remember, or have seen, the legendary 1973 Aintree Grand National featuring Crisp and Red Rum will have had a sense of deja vu as the Surrey version unfolded.

Le Reve, accurately playing the Crisp role in the tipstars.tips-sponsored marathon, jumped his way fully 20 lengths clear of the rest from an early stage but, as his lead diminished from the top of the hill, he wavered at the last, giving Ballymalin a chance to reprise Red Rum's surge to victory.

However, the fairytale was completed this time as Le Reve held on under conditional Maxime Tissier, having his first ride in 'a National', and leaving trainer Lucy Wadham close to tears.
