Dream Of Delphi works the oracle for newcomer Bridge

A year ago this week Dream Of Delphi was being knocked down to owner Tim Bridge at the Doncaster sales as the Greene King chairman eased into retirement ready to pursue his racing passion.

Three runs later, with the two most recent resulting in lasts, it looked like Bridge needed more than an oracle to turn into a winner but Dream Of Delphi had him in raptures after a shock 16-1 success in the 7f nursery.

"I retired after 45 years at Greene King – we sponsored the whole of the 1999 Newmarket July meeting – and I have always loved racing but was too sensible to buy a horse," said Bridge, who got to know winning trainer William Haggas on the cricket field.
