There was no shortage of drama at Clonmel on Thursday but not all of it was good.

There was a disappointing postscript to the feature 3m hurdle when Willie Mullins revealed that Coquin Mans would be out of action for some time after suffering a knee injury when stumbling on the level before two out.

No amount of pausing and rewinding of the race will help make sense of what happened. One moment, Paul Townend is sitting motionless aboard the 100-300 favourite, and the next, he’s sitting on the rain-softened turf avoiding impending hooves.
