Who said small-runner races can’t be dramatic? Just six horses set out for the feature Southampton Goodwill Plate Chase at Listowel and only four finished, with Don’t Touch It getting the better of Listen Dear by just a head in a pulsating finish.

Racing manager Frank Berry was delighted with the victory of JP McManus’s eight-year-old, trained by Jessica Harrington, but was just as pleased to see the leading owner’s five-time Grade 1-winning chaser Carlingford Lough get to his feet after a crashing fall at the second-last.

Berry said: “It's great to see Carlingford Lough up okay and he was in the process of running a blinder. He's got a bit of class and hopefully we'll find something for him during the winter as he's dropping down a bit.”
