Dobbin eyeing another Borders National bid with Do No Disturb
Rose Dobbin is already relishing big-race winter targets at Kelso despite the glorious spring sunshine at the Borders track as Do Not Disturb continued his rapid progression with a game victory in the 3m2f handicap chase.
The eight-year-old picked up a third victory since the beginning of March with a one-and-a-half-length victory to set up a potential tilt at the Borders National in December, which the trainer and her parents, owners Duncan and Sarah Davidson, won in 2019 with Bigirononhiship.
Dobbin said: "We're over the moon. He's always been a gorgeous horse but now we've stepped him up in trip he's really got into his stride. He's a very genuine and exciting prospect.
"We'll put him away now. I don't want to risk him on this quick ground as I think he's too nice. We're really looking forward to next season.
"He's not a real mud-lover, but we won the Borders National on good to soft [officially soft] ground. We'd hope to run him in that race if it's not bottomless. He could have a lot of big targets."
Brilliant O'Brien
Fergal O'Brien enjoys his forays to Kelso and he enhanced his brilliant strike-rate at the track when Valentino Dancer landed the feature 2m handicap hurdle.
The six-year-old's success took O'Brien's strike-rate at the track to 50 per cent – better than anywhere else in Britain. After Kelso, O'Brien's top strike-rates are at three other Scottish tracks: Ayr, Musselburgh and Perth.
Double delight
Northern Irish trainer Noel Kelly gained his first victories at Kelso with a double on the card.
