Did we see the Guineas winner in the Fillies' Mile? Racing Post experts' view

'Do I think she's value? Absolutely not'

Commissioning has achieved a lot in a very short space of time and that should not be underestimated. Do I think she's value for the 1,000 Guineas at 4-1, however? Absolutely not.

That was far from the strongest running of the Fillies' Mile and Tahiyra, who ran circles around Group 2 winner Meditate in the Moyglare, has far superior form on paper at this stage.

We have not seen anywhere near the best of Commissioning yet and she will be a far better three-year-old, but I don't think the value lies in her camp – no matter how much improvement is left under the hood.

Mawj, who is half-sister to Modern Games and Modern News, can be found at 33-1 and provided she has the stamina of her siblings, I think she could prove far better over that trip and represents a decent each-way stab.

'She's my idea of the winner'

The market for the Guineas looks wide open and, despite being impressed by Tahiyra in Ireland, Commissioning is my idea of the winner at this stage. She shaped as though an extra furlong would suit in the Rockfel last month and that definitely proved to be true.

Still, it was far from the perfect performance at Newmarket. She showed some signs of greenness but produced an eyecatching turn of foot and toughed it out when it mattered. She has achieved a lot in three runs but there still looks like room for lots of improvement.

Commissioning is bred to excel over a mile but there is stamina on the dam side – Sovereign Parade is by Galileo and contested the Ribblesdale – so she could also step up in trip later in the season.

'There is so much more to come from her'

It’s hard to fault a filly who is 3-3, especially from the Gosden yard, and Commissioning's experience of the Rowley Mile only helps enhance her 1,000 Guineas credentials.

This may not be the strongest running of the Fillies’ Mile that we’ve seen, but you can only beat what's put in front of you, and that’s exactly what she did.

She changed her legs multiple times as she entered the Dip and wasn’t sticking to a true line, but when she found her stride she showed a decisive turn of foot. From this run, it’s clear to me there is so much more to come from Commissioning.

Tahiyra looks exciting for Dermot Weld, but we haven't seen the best of this Gosden filly yet and she could prove to be special.
