Charlie Deutsch is hoping to move on from the episode that led to him spending much of the summer behind bars, and he made a bright start when finishing second on his comeback ride at the Cambridgeshire track.

The 22-year-old served two and a half months of a nine-month sentence after pleading guilty to dangerous driving while over the drink-drive limit and escaping from police custody, and was released from prison in August.

Aboard Rogue Dancer in the 2m7½f handicap chase a day after having his tag removed, Deutsch took up the running early on the last circuit and looked likely to win on his Lawney Hill-trained mount until Hoke Colburn proved too strong from the last.
