Dettori is sidelined but smiling as Stradivarius camp enjoy a far happier defeat

Stradivarius was beaten but this time it was all right.

One might even say the Qatar Goodwood Cup could not have worked out more perfectly. The best three horses finished first, second and third, the increasingly impressive Kyprios followed up his Gold Cup triumph, Trueshan excelled himself on unsuitable ground and Stradivarius, the one with his face on the flags handed out on course, ran a mighty race without causing his former jockey any embarrassment.

This time, unlike last time, they surely all went home happy.
