Derrinross firmly in Albert Bartlett picture after Grade 2 success

The relatively short history of the Grade 2 Dorans Pride Novice Hurdle at Limerick has been quite a rich one, having been won in recent years by Faugheen and subsequent Albert Bartlett Novices Hurdle winners Martello Tower and Penhill.

Consequently, the Philip Dempsey-trained Derrinross deserves to be mentioned as a potential winner of the Cheltenham contest after a battling success in the 2018 edition.

Sponsored this year by Sky Sports Racing, the six-runner contest turned into a tactical affair in which Derrinross set a steady pace under the trainer's son Luke, but he showed plenty of toughness as he gave weight all round and stayed in front of Defi Bleu and the possibly unlucky Pleasure Dome.
