After I injured my back on Canadian Steel at Gowran Park on Thyestes Chase day, Dr [Adrian] McGoldrick sent me straight to the Beacon Hospital.

The initial diagnosis was I'd be out for between four and six weeks, having suffered a paracentral left-sided disk bulge. I went back the following Tuesday and met the back surgeon, Mr [Jabir] Nagaria, and told him I was anxious to be back for Irish Gold Cup day.

He told me he'd get me back in time, and he did.
