JP McManus started the day with the JCB Triumph Hurdle favourite and he ended it the same way – although with some bookmakers that is now a different horse.

McManus and Joseph O'Brien – albeit unofficially with father Aidan's name in the record books – combined to win the juveniles' championship last season with Ivanovich Gorbatov, and thanks to an influx of former Ballydoyle inmates, headed by Landofhopeandglory, the pair could win it again this season.

There is, however, a dangerous British rival who also represents the green-and-gold camp.
