Roger Varian's first runner over jumps was the big talking point prior to the 2m novice hurdle but it was another yard with a Flat racing pedigree who stole the headlines thanks to unheralded 33-1 winner Glaring.

Trained by Group 2-winning trainer Amanda Perrett, Glaring himself had come close to winning Group races on the Flat in France before joining his current yard and the switch to hurdles unlocked his potential as he stayed on strongly to deny the promising Burbank with the front two well clear.
