Day to remember for Mitchell with winner in royal blue
Not many people make their childhood dream a reality but Jack Mitchell is now an exception after riding his first winner in the illustrious silks of Godolphin.
The cherished success came on Oceanographer in the featured £20,000 1m2f handicap, the Charlie Appleby-trained four-year-old bouncing back from a disappointing run in the Wolferton Handicap at Royal Ascot to land a neck victory over Scrutinise.
Most of the attention may have been on Goodwood but Mitchell, who was riding for Appleby for the first time, will remember this day like no other.
