Dating and O'Shea prove a perfect match in Queen's Cup

Owner Jimmy Long celebrated creating a slice of history and landed a nice touch in the process as Carbon Dating emerged victorious in the inaugural running of the Queen’s Cup under Tadhg O'Shea.

Long, from Glasgow, had his eyes on the new £100,000 staying handicap throughout the winter when his horse was campaigned in the United Arab Emirates.

Sent off a 12-1 chance, Carbon Dating moved smoothly to the front with two furlongs to travel and stayed on strongly to take care of Maleficent Queen by one and a half lengths. The winning owner’s other runner, The Tartan Spartan, was third.
