Darver proves a star in first handicap for Cromwell

Where Gavin Cromwell gets the time to fit in everything remains one of the great mysteries in racing, but the Champion Hurdle-winning trainer added another success with Darver Star in the 2m4f handicap hurdle.

Cromwell, who manages his farriery business in tandem with banging out winners, gives substance to the phrase ‘give a busy man a job and he’ll get it done’ and this success clearly wasn’t lost on him or his travelling bunch of owners.

Speaking about Darver Star, who made an immediate impact on this switch to handicaps, Cromwell said: "This looked the ideal step up for him.
