Curragh hero Romanised second only to Saxon Warrior in European standings

Romanised moved up to second behind Saxon Warrior (123) in the European three-year-old standings after landing the Irish 2,000 Guineas.

The 25-1 shot was still last at halfway but kept on strongly on his first try beyond seven furlongs to beat U S Navy Flag (116) by two and a quarter lengths, earning an big career best Racing Post Rating of 121.

Romanised's previous form didn't scream Classic winner but he had finished just two lengths behind runaway Craven Stakes winner Masar last year and was staying on strongly before being impeded over seven furlongs on his return last month.
