Course specialist Crosse Fire definitely enjoys the unique test the Fibresand provides, and the sprint veteran secured course win number 14 in the 6f handicap.

Now eight, Crosse Fire was having his 67th run at the track and 124th overall, but he managed to keep tabs on a strong gallop to win by two-and-a-quarter lengths under Ben Curtis.

Crosse Fire may not be the easiest to deal with at home, and was winning for the first time in more than a year, but he has been a fine stalwart for trainer Scott Dixon, who said: "He's been threatening a few times this year and what a grand servant he's been.
