Name a current jump jockey who didn't ride a winner until he was 28, but has now had just short of 350 of them.

If that question comes up in a racing quiz any time soon the answer is amateur Phillip York, who took his score to 345 when Spiritofchartwell got the better of a spirited battle with Tactical Manoeuvre in the 2m2f handicap chase.

There were only four runners, and Spiritofchartwell might well have been lucky as the runner-up bled from the nose, third-placed Free World finished lame and Citadel – hot favourite despite having been pulled up on his last four starts – fell at halfway.
