Cook's eye for a good buy proves spot on as Thelongwayaround strolls home

Not only did Danny Cook steer Thelongwayaround to a clear cut success in the 2m4f maiden hurdle but he was also responsible for picking up the six-year-old at the sales for just £10,000 in August.

The rider always had the winner well placed just off the early pace before jumping to the front at the third last hurdle and eventually skipping well clear of Molly Whuppie for a 15 length win.

A very contented Cook was partnering his 36th winner of the campaign and said: “I liked the stamp of him as he is a big strong horse and he caught my eye at the sales about 18 months ago so I at least seem to know what I am doing when it comes to buying one.
