Tim Pinfield has seen more of the world than most trainers but there was no mistaking his delight at saddling his first winner at the home of horseracing.

It was not just any winner either for Pinfield, who trained in the USA, Singapore and Macau before returning to Britain last year, as in the unbeaten Sir Thomas Gresham he has a potentially smart individual to look forward to over the winter.

Well backed to make it two wins from two starts in the 6f conditions stakes, Sir Thomas Gresham recovered from a slow start to post a stylish success under Martin Dwyer.
