Collins back in winning groove as Chiclet thrives in Marshes

With four course-and-distance wins to her name, nobody would have been surprised to see the Tracey Collins-trained Chiclet prove hard to catch in the featured 5f Marshes Handicap, but not many could have foreseen the manner in which she blitzed away from some decent rivals under Pat Smullen.

Everything went beautifully for the daughter of Dandy Man as she went off very quickly, but within her comfort zone, and when she was able to open up again from a furlong out her rivals were left trailing.

This was undoubtedly a career-best performance from the filly on her favourite surface, and on this evidence she looks likely to take the step up to Listed class in her stride.
