When you ply your trade at the top of the apex where the air is thin and spotlight glare unforgiving, keeping it simple is the hardest thing to do.

Blessed are those who can, for theirs is the earth. Colin Keane is surely among the kingdom of Flat racing's most composed practitioners, and he demonstrated all of his trademark equanimity by making light of any external pressure after being parachuted in for the choice mount on Field Of Gold to enable the Juddmonte colt to atone for his Newmarket defeat with a sublime triumph in the Tattersalls-sponsored Irish equivalent. 

By his own admission, Kieran Shoemark probably overcomplicated matters on the 2,000 Guineas favourite that day. It was hardly a glaring misjudgement but the margins are fine at the highest level and you pay a big price when it doesn't work out.
