Seven-year-old Mirsaale got his career back on track with a smooth win under Brian Hughes in the 2m handicap hurdle.

A one-time smart Flat performer who finished just over seven lengths behind Ruler Of The World in the 2013 Derby when trained by James Tate, having won the Epsom Derby trial earlier in the season, his career then stagnated a little.

Having been switched to Keith Dalgleish and dropped significantly in the ratings, he not only got back to winning ways on the Flat he proved an instant success as a hurdler with two wins here, a third in the Persian War at Chepstow and second in the Supreme Novices' Trial at Cheltenham, before finishing down the field in the Fighting Fifth.
