Christopher Wood made an impressive start to his jumping career when spreadeagling his rivals in the 2m1½f juvenile hurdle.

Purchased by agent Alex Elliott for 80,000gns last October, the four-year-old looks a worthy buy.

The ex-Michael Bell trainee had only ever won over a mile on the Flat, but you would not have known it judging by the way he reeled in pacesetter Flaminger to win by seven lengths.
