Tuesday: Lingfield

Toby Lawes is counting down the days to Mister Who's chase debut after the novice hurdler got off the mark under Sam Twiston-Davies.

The five-year-old easily held off the favourite Jubilee Express to win the 2m3½f novice hurdle despite a hairy jump at the final flight.

"The last was a little bit of a gulp moment but thankfully he was pretty clever going out of the hurdle – just not so clever going in," said Lawes, a former assistant trainer to Nicky Henderson.

"He's very unfurnished and has loads to learn, but we think he's a nice horse and all he wants to do is please. We very much bought him to be a proper Saturday chaser over middle or staying distances and so far he seems to be every bit of what we hoped to find."

One to watch

Sir Mark Prescott was an unusual addition to the winning trainers' list after Zonisty claimed the bumper by eight and a half lengths, the Arc-winning trainer's first jumps success for more than seven years.

The four-year-old, who is a half-brother to Doncaster Cup winner Coltrane, denied the favourite Peace Of Rome under Sean Bowen.

Tricky treble

Gary and Jamie Moore recorded a treble in unconventional fashion when Saligo Bay won the 2m handicap hurdle in the stewards' room.

Lupus Regem was first past the post but the placings were reversed due to interference. The Moore team followed up with 28-1 shot Walk In The Wind and Ozzie Man in the novice handicap chase.

Going for Gold

Lingfield's feature handicap hurdle went the way of Lynwood Gold, who scored at 22-1 for Brian Barr and 7lb claimer Thomas Doggrell.
