Channon a man for all seasons as Koeman follows up Whitaker's Cheltenham victory

Jumps or Flat – they both come alike to trainer Mick Channon as he sent out Koeman to land the 1m4f handicap just three days after Mister Whitaker triumphed at the Cheltenham Festival earlier in the week.

Just as Mister Whitaker had to be delivered late by Brian Hughes on Tuesday, it was the same for Charles Bishop as he bided his time aboard Koeman after the four-year-old appeared tapped for toe off the home turn.

But Bishop would not be denied and he galvanised his mount inside the final furlong for one last late lunge in the final 100 yards to get up and beat Island Brave by half a length, despite taking a small bump when challenging.
