Bottomweight Carlos Felix made a mockery of his mark of 78 as he streaked clear from three rivals to take the 1m4f handicap in fine style.

The performance marked a sharp upturn in form for the three-year-old, who could finish no better than fourth when running off the same mark on his handicap debut over a mile at Doncaster last month.

Winning trainer David Simcock said: "He comes from a family of good stayers so we were pretty confident a mile and a half would be what he needs. He's a really nice horse going forward and he should be contesting much better races than this in the future."
