Eddie Lynam famously took the bookies to the cleaners with an ante-post double on his Royal Ascot sprinters Sole Power and Slade Power a few seasons back, but the trainer admitted he did not have as much confidence in Captain Power finding the winning thread in the Fairyhouse feature.

“The punters are sharper than me as I thought he was a bad 5-2 favourite,” he joked.

“He's been a bit of a bookmakers' friend the last few times – but I suppose he's a bookmaker's friend again today as the Powers own him!”
