Business as usual as red-hot Hughes lands 556-1 four-timer

Brian Hughes, who two days earlier had clocked up another seasonal half-century, was in terrific form as he posted a 556-1 four-timer from just five rides.

His only losing mount was Dunly, who was seventh of eight finishers in the second race, and Hughes said: "He should have been a lot closer but we were badly hampered and nearly brought down. I've had four winners several times before, including here and at Carlisle and Kelso."

Hughes, runner-up in the 2016-17 jockeys' championship to Richard Johnson, added: "I just sit on these horses so a lot of the praise has to go to my agent Richard Hale.
