Burke doubles up with Wax And Wane and course specialist Jay Kay

Karl Burke was one trainer who was happy that the meeting survived as he sent two horses to Scotland and was rewarded with a double when Wax And Wane won the 1m novice and Jay Kay strolled away with the mile handicap.
The former, a son of Maxios, holds an Investec Derby entry next June and, although that might be flying a bit high, the two-year-old is now two wins from three outings as he galloped on relentlessly under Ben Curtis to get the better of main market rival Lynwood Gold.
Jay Kay made it six successes at the track and was given an enterprising ride by Joey Haynes, who soon had his mount at the head of affairs and kicked clear in the home straight to score in unchallenged style from Le Chat D’Or by three lengths.
