Burke bounces back with a timely winner as Jully Les Buxy scores
Comeback trainer Keiran Burke struck the jackpot with his first runner since renewing his licence after Jully Les Buxy came from a highly unpromising position in the back straight to land the 2m7f handicap hurdle in the hands of Wayne Hutchinson.
Burke sprang to prominence back in 2011-12 season with Cheltenham Festival winner Hunt Ball but following a series of reverses he packed in training in 2015 and remarked: “I have to say that after Hunt Ball things just did not pan out for me for a variety of reasons and everything that went on was a real learning curve.
“But I’m back now in a new yard near Sturminster Newton in Dorset and we have 11 horses in at present. About half a dozen of them are youngsters who'll not run until the autumn but we hope to have three or four that'll be in action over the summer.”
