Bryony Frost warmed up for a spin in the Galway Plate on her breakthrough Grade 1 winner Black Corton with a fine front-running victory on Cubswin at Newton Abbot.

Frost, who rides at Worcester on Tuesday evening before rekindling her sparkling partnership with Black Corton on Wednesday, judged the pace of the feature 2m2½f handicap hurdle superbly, with Cubswin having plenty left in the tank to fend off the late challenge of Teqany.

It was a seventh success under rules for the five-year-old mare, trained by Neil King, and Frost, speaking to Sky Sports Racing, said of the 10-1 winner: "She’s loved every minute out there and it was perfect, I could ride her completely how we wanted to. She’s been full of it the whole way round, she was awesome over the last when I really needed her and she’s kept galloping all the way to the line.
