'Brilliant' jockey Larson hailed as George Morland scores again for Amy Murphy
Tuesday: Lingfield
Amy Murphy was full of praise for apprentice Frederick Larson after the young jockey took his record for the trainer to two winners from just four rides with success on George Morland in the second division of the mile handicap.
The four-year-old swept up the rail inside the final furlong to score by a length and a quarter, backing up a win over 7f at the same track last month under Larson.
Murphy said: "George is not a horse that likes to be bullied, you’ve almost got to kid him along and Frederick does a brilliant job of that."
After an underwhelming summer in France, George Morland has thrived back in Britain and the trainer added that his poor performances there were no fault of his own.
She said: "He just didn’t get his ground there, every time I declared him it went soft and he hates it soft."
Egan's super September
David Egan’s remarkable month continued when he guided Chief Of Staff to a narrow success in the 6f handicap.
Egan, who secured his first British Classic in the St Leger aboard Eldar Eldarov before a brilliant four-timer at Newbury last Saturday, added another winner to his haul to take his strike-rate over the past fortnight to 23 per cent.
Chief Of Staff's owners Godolphin doubled up when the Charlie Appleby-trained Princeville landed the 5f nursery under William Buick.
Muscutt brings up his century
There was late excitement as Daniel Muscutt closed the card in the 1m2f handicap by bringing up 100 winners for the season for the first time aboard Euraquilo.
The three-year-old was slowly away, but burst through the field under expert guidance from Muscutt to win comfortably ahead of 2-1 favourite Wholeofthemoon.
