Brian Hughes back in championship driving seat after double strike at Ayr

Brian Hughes is back in the lead in the race to be crowned champion jump jockey after scoring a double at Ayr on Monday.

Title rival and current champion Richard Johnson, who started the day level with Hughes, was first on the scoresheet when winning the opening 2m4½f mares' novice hurdle on the Gordon Elliott-trained Miss Aloud.

But Hughes fought back in the following 2m½f handicap chase aboard Dunly, trained by James Ewart, before landing the bumper with Castle Rushen.
