Richard Hughes was wreathed in smiles in the Newmarket winner's enclosure as Brentford Hope delivered an immensely impressive debut victory.

The former champion jockey-turned trainer can dream of big prizes through the winter as the colt sauntered to a five-length success in the 1m2f novice under Jamie Spencer, who did not have to get serious with the imposing son of Camelot.

"In the last month the pace he started showing me was unbelievable," Hughes said of the colt, who earned a 33-1 quote for the Investec Derby from Paddy Power.
