Brecon Hill gives Swinbank team emotional winner
Alan Swinbank: trained many a winner at Market Rasen
The racing community was shocked and saddened last week by the death of Alan Swinbank, and it was an emotional winner's enclosure following Brecon Hill's victory in the 2m½f bumper.
Swinbank's partner and assistant Sally Haynes has taken out a temporary licence, and the second runner in her name yielded a winner as the four-year-old forged clear by a length and three-parts under Leighton Aspell. The winner was well regarded by Swinbank, and his son Julian said: "It means everything. It means everything for the staff, the owners and for everybody. He's a good horse, and a character, and my dad knew that. He had big expectations of him.
