Bouvreuil bounces back on first start for Ben Haslam at Wetherby

Alain Cawley had never ridden Bouvreuil before Saturday but he delivered the classy seven-year-old for a last-gasp success in the feature 1m7f handicap chase, beating last year's winner Movie Legend.

Bouvreuil was sent off 16-1 on his first start for Ben Haslam and on that basis might have been assumed to be in need of the run, but they did not go quickly and virtually the whole field jumped four out in close proximity.

While Cawley was always looking quietly confident on Bouvreuil, it was not until after the last that it became clear that his mount, who has often been played late, was going to get there.
