Black Op as short as 10-1 for JLT after smooth jumping display at Stratford

Grade 1-winning hurdler Black Op was cut to as short as 10-1 (from 16) by some firms for the JLT Novices' Chase next March after putting 15 lengths between himself and four rivals in the 2m5f beginners' chase at Stratford.

Connections were forced to abort the eight-year-old's chasing career and return to hurdles last season after he failed to spark in two chases at Exeter and Cheltenham.

However, this was much more like it from a horse who finished a close second to Samcro in the 2018 Ballymore Novices' Hurdle before getting the better of Lostintranslation in Grade 1 company at Aintree on his next start.
