What better Father's Day present could a trainer wish for than a winner ridden by his son and owned by his landlords?

No wonder Mark Loughnane was smiling as he welcomed back Follow Your Heart, on whom Billy Loughnane landed the second division of the 7f handicap in the colours of Steve and Anita Mares.

"It's always great to ride winners for Dad, especially for Steve and Anita — I've known them since I was a baby," said the jockey, who also took the 1m4f novice on Gravitas. "He's a star of a horse. He did it nicely."

An ideal present for the rider would be another Royal Ascot winner to follow his 80-1 triumph on Rashabar in the Coventry Stakes last year.

He has nearly 20 mounts pencilled in already and said: "I've got a really good book of rides. My agent Tony Hind is doing a super job. Hopefully I should be there every day with some nice chances. It was savage to ride a winner there last year, one of the best days of my life, and hopefully I'll be able to follow it up.

"I'm really looking forward to Bountiful in the Sandringham on Friday. Stepping up to a mile will benefit her and she hasn't run in handicaps before."

Rare Queen

Amora Queen is a two-year-old by Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe winner Waldgeist but precocious enough to make a winning debut in the 7f maiden.

"Has Waldgeist ever had a June two-year-old winner?" marvelled trainer Charlie Johnston's father Mark. "Have a look at the size and shape of her, what's she going to be next year?"
